Breaking Barrier- It is estimated that up to 300,000 children in the UK are affected by having a parent or close family member in prison. This is more than the number affected by divorce. Ormiston Families Breaking Barriers is a non-judgemental, early intervention service providing support for children and young people aged 4.5-5 to 19 years old, affected by the imprisonment of a close family member. Through tailored one to one support Breaking Barriers will help children and young people to reduce any anxiety around prison, improve emotional wellbeing and feel happier, more confident and to believe they can make a difference. We work with children in schools, family homes, or wherever a young person feels safe.

Path to Recovery is a specialist addictions service providing advice, treatment and support to people, age 18 and over, whose lives are affected by drug or alcohol use. We provide an integrated service with a range of expertise available in one place. P2R provide services across the whole of Bedfordshire with two main sites: Bedford and Dunstable. Both professional and self-referrals can be made via telephone or online. The BRIDGE Project works with perpetrators of domestic abuse who demonstrate a willingness to change their behaviours. We aim to reduce and prevent abuse and increase victim and survivors’ safety. The Outreach Perpetrator Programme is part of a wider portfolio provided by ‘The Change Project’, a counselling and DA prevention support service1. The service is based on the Safe and Together Model, a field-tested approach developed in the US (Mandel, 2013), which emphasises the importance of intervention in child welfare cases in which DA is a feature, and working to keep the non-offending parent and child together. The Safe and Together Model consists of a set of assumptions and principles and critical components for use in DA cases, that help to improve identification, assessment, documents, case-planning and decision-making.

There is a strong focus on reaching women from the Black African and Caribbean community who may have experienced barriers accessing support due to systemic racism and a lack of cultural understanding in our society. The organisation is led by a team of Black women who have both lived and professional experience.
